Ringo Starr for the David Lynch Foundation and Meditation (TM) 2009

Ringo Starr practices his meditation since he learned it by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in summer 1967.

He participated for the first time in the benefit concert for TM and the Natural Law Party in April 1992 with his friend George Harrison and his son Dhani in the London's Royal Albert Hall.

And more recently for the second time in 2009 for the David Lynch Foundation with Paul McCartney to raise money to give meditation to a million kids around the world.

For his 68th birthday, director David Lynch threw a party for Ringo Starr. More precisely, the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace gave Starr the not-made-up-at-all "Lifetime of Peace and Love Award."

Starr concluded the evening by asking for donations to the David Lynch Foundation and touting the benefits of meditation with a classic Ringoism: "Meditation was started thousands of years ago – and I was there."
